Wayzata Boys Basketball Summer Camp

Wayzata Boys Basketball Summer Camp for boys finishing grades 1-8

Camp Dates:  June 21- July 1st, 2010

Thank you for your interest in what we feel will be another great year for the Wayzata Boys Basketball Camp. We will hold sessions 1-4 at Central Middle School. Each session here will focus primarily on learning to enjoy the game as well as skill development in all aspects of playing basketball. We will conduct sessions 5-8 at Wayzata High School. These sessions will devote a great deal of time to individual offensive skills such as proper shooting form, ball handling and passing. Time will also be spent on defensive skills. We will cover such topics as defending a dribbler, rebounding, and team defense. Also included in sessions 5-8 is our camp league in which each camper will play on a team and compete against other camp teams in at least three games per day. All sessions will have prizes, gifts and most important, lots of fun. Please join us again this summer.

This year’s staff will be made up of Head Coach Phil Ward and assistant coaches, Mike Anderson, Nick Tibesar, Brent Allan and Jon Matzke. They bring more than 70 years of coaching experience to the camp and all are professional teachers/coaches. Our goal is to make the game fun and therefore inspire the youngsters to want to play and practice more. We also will employ a number of high school players who can give the kids first hand knowledge of what we expect of them now and in the future, and what they need to do to become a great player.

Registration Form is below!

The "Gustie" Basketball and Leadership Camp is a special camp for special people. It is designed to help each player, from the highly skilled, to those who are just beginning. With the aid of an experienced staff, the camp program has been carefully designed to develop individual skills, stimulate personal goals and give each participant a unique and meaningful experience.

The ultimate aim of the camp is to develop a well-rounded basketball player emphasizing discipline, floor presence and team concepts. Each player will receive individual attention designed to help correct and improve areas of weakness or inexperience. Everyone gets equal time in five on five and half court games. Fundamentals are taught daily and reinforced in league play.

In order to maximize the experience for each player we will make every effort to have no more than eight players on each five on five team.

Time is also set aside to discuss leadership, motivation and positive living. Contests, speakers, and free shooting round out the daily schedule.

Barry Wohler Basketball Camp

This camp is an opportunity for boys to improve their fundamental basketball skills and their overall understanding of the game of basketball. It is a blend of skill development, contests, and short games. If you have never been to basketball camp before, this is the year to try it out! We would love to see you and bring a friend or two! This camp is designed to be a two week camp, but attendance in just one week is beneficial. Attendance provides athletes with the repetition they need to improve their basketball skills, so they can reach their future goals.
