Policies

Player Eligibility

To participate in a WBBA program, a boy must attend school in the Wayzata Public Schools or have a home address in the Wayzata School District.  Exceptions to this rule may be granted by the WBBA Board of Directors.

All WBBA teams and programs are organized based on grade levels.  Our policy is that players must participate at their grade level.  "Playing up" is not permitted without advance approval of the WBBA Board of Directors.  Exceptions to this rule will be rare.

Violations to this policy may result in dismissal from the program without refund.

Scholarships

As in the past we will be offering scholarships to those with significant financial need.  Our goal is to make sure that financial concerns do not prevent any boys in our community from being involved in basketball at some level.   We expect that demand for scholarships will increase based on the current economic challenges we face.  The WBBA has limited financial resources and we do not believe a general fee increase is warranted to fund scholarships.  During the registration process, we offer the opportunity to make a scholarship donation to those with the interest and financial resources to do so.

We have posted a scholarship application form on our website (wayzatabasketball.com) that should be completed and submitted to me (bmallaro@deloitte.com) in advance of the registration deadline.

For the 2011-2012 season, scholarships for the travel program will be limited to a maximum of 50% of the program fee.  For the southwest and house programs we will require a minimum payment of $50  from all participants and scholarships will be available to cover the balance of the fee (as needed).  In cases of extreme hardship, we will work with families to develop payment plans or find alternative sources of funding.
